How to Wear a Bra for Heavy Breasts

Wearing the right bra is essential for women with heavier breasts. Proper support reduces strain on the shoulders and back, improves posture, and increases comfort throughout the day.

Key Fit Adjustments:

1. Band Fitting First:
The band provides primary support and distributes weight. It should fit snugly without being too tight, you should be able to fit two fingers underneath.

2. Proper Breast Positioning:
All breast tissue should sit inside the cups. Lean forward and gather the tissue to ensure proper alignment and reduce gravitational strain.

3. Strap Tension:
Straps should be snug enough to prevent movement but not so tight that they strain your shoulders. The band should be doing most of the supporting work.

4. Center Gore Alignment:
The fabric between the cups should lie flat against your sternum. If it does not, your band may be the wrong size.

Maintenance Practices:
Rotate between at least three bras to let the elastic recover
Hand wash in lukewarm water with gentle soap, air dry only
Replace your bras every 12 to 18 months when elasticity diminishes

Recommended Features for Heavy Busts:
Reinforced, wide bands
Wide straps to ease shoulder pressure
Full-coverage cups
Wireless construction

Modern wireless bras offer just as much support as underwire designs, without the constant pain. Proper support does not have to come at the cost of comfort.
